FOR MOST THIS IS A VERY LARGE INVESTMENT, PERHAPS SECOND ONLY TO THEIR PRIMARY RESIDENCE. THERE ARE A FEW CHECKS THAT YOU CAN FOLLOW TO HELP MAKE THE TRANSACTION SUCCESSFUL.


- Is the Broker/Dealer a member of the Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA)?

- Is your broker professionally "Certified" by the YBAA?

- Does your Broker maintain a "customer escrow" independent of their general business account?

- Does the broker have professional indemnity insurance?

- Does the boat have the required documentation such as - HIN; CE mark; Bill of Sale; Builder's Certificate?

- Is there any Preferred Mortgage outstanding from the previous owner?

- Are you able to raise the buying capital? You could lose your deposit if you can't complete the purchase in good time.

- Are you certain of the vessel's condition? It is advisable to have the boat surveyed before you close.
